A Poem Written by Vivian Ennis 06/15/2000
Living in a violent city
life’s is not so pretty
No one seems to care
lots of stranger everywhere
People acting out so bold
a feeling that is so cold
There is nothing we can do
No one knows how to be true
In the city life is hard
Kids play on cemented courtyards
Where basket ball has become their sport
and life to them can be cut short
Guns and weapons that are real
children are taught to survive is to steal
They’ll shoot you down to prove to you
they do what they want to do
Taking your life and your car
not caring who you are
You are not important, you can see
not as long as you live in a violent city
