A Short Story Poem Written by Vivian Ennis 9/19/1996
There once was a man who was as rich as could be,
every night he stayed at home and watched TV.
He did not have one single true friend.
The heartache from the loneliness he wished would truly end.
Then one day he was walking home from work,
accidentally bumped into a bum, he was a jerk.
The bum looked over his shoulder and yelled, “Watch out you fool!
Don’t you know how to excuse yourself too”?
The rich man said, pardon me,
it was clearly you I didn't see!
The rich man began to walk away,
but the bum followed him and asked him to stay.
Then he asked the rich man to talk to him,
while telling him he had a message for him from within.
The rich man looked at him weirdly
telling him that he could not kindly.
But the bum persisted to say please stay?
This started to scare the rich man away.
The bum said what are you scared of?
I am as gentle as a dove.
I may not have clean clothes on…
