A Poem Written by Vivian Ennis 6/15/2000
Living in the city
There is definitely no pity
No one seems to give a dam about you
And some of your friends seem to act that way too
Mostly every stranger out there
Are living their lives without a care
People can sometimes act so bold
With a chip on their shoulders acting so cold
Fearing you and me too
Because none of them are every true
In the city life is hard
Children play in a rundown court yard
Where basketball has become their sport
But life to them seems very short
The guns the weapons are so real
Children are taught to survive, is to steal
They will shoot you down to prove a point to you
They don't care who is who
They steal your life and your car
They don't care who you are
You are not as important you see
Not as long as you live in the big city
